What is a Social Media Manager and Why Should You Have One?
I know, you’ve heard Social Media Managers, but you’re still not sure what one is exactly, what the role of a social media manager is and what one does.
Well here goes…
First off, Social Media is not just Twitter or Facebook, it’s a whole lot more…
There are lots of different forms of social media which include:
- Fan pages
- Blogs
- Video
- Bookmarking
- Message boards
- Forums and even more
A perfect example of using social media is Amazon. They have consumers that buy items from the site and then share their reviews on the products they purchased as a way to share their input with the public and gain traction with the products.
Another form of social media that individuals do on a daily basis is social bookmarking.
When folks visit a website or blog they enjoy they will mark the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed or mark it on digg or delicious. All of that is part of social media.
It’s amazing the different forms of applications available for users to share content on social media.
This is intended to share with you how social media can be used to effectively build your business.
Here is an example to show you that a Social Media Manager can help you build your business bigger and faster than you ever expected.
A Social Media Manager is available to help promote your business and manage the social media outlets and avenues that you may not be aware of. All the while making it possible for you to focus on running your business and delivering your products and services.
Social media could be likened to a large party where a party planner puts together a guest list of like minded individuals who may or may not already know each other. The party planner to ensure the guests are happy and well taken care of at the party and provides introductions to people the planner thinks would have mutual interests. The individuals then meet various people and learn what their interests are. If they have similar interests and hit it off then they invite them over to their house to spend time with them and get to know them better.
If you are looking to build your business you would be looking for new prospects and ensuring your customers are happy with your products or services. You would establish relationships by providing good valuable information (and not trying to sell them immediately). If a prospect is interested they will accept an invitation from you to your blog or website where your can provide them with product and service information because they are already interested.
Still comparing social media to a huge party, then the Social Media Manager is considered the ‘party planner’. The role of the manager is one that researches individuals and particular contacts as well as companies that may be an asset to you and your business.
As you can see the Social Media Manager is one that is one that provides a greatly needed service for your business and growth process. It is our job to do the time consuming part and connect you to the right individuals as well as research the correct circle of influence to target for your success and business expansion.
Let me know if you agree or disagree with this explanation…
